Renewal of customs brokers’ accreditation can now be processed in all ports under the Bureau of Customs as it recently decentralized the process.

In a bid to expedite processing, the bureau is now allowing the renewal of customs brokers’ accreditation in all collection districts.

The order to decentralize the process was directed by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero through Customs Memorandum Order No. 19-2019 issued on April 16, 2019.

Renewal of such requirement was previously centralized and had to be approved by the Customs Account Management Office, Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Group and the Office of the Commissioner.

Under the new order, brokers’ accreditation will only be processed at the local Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service and at the office of the District Collector, reducing the previous signatories from four to two.

Activation of client profile registration system (CPRS) of entities accredited by other government agencies can also be processed at the collection district nearest to the stakeholder’s principal place of business.

The activation of the customs broker’s CPRS and the preparation of the certificate of accreditation shall be done by the Account Management Head Office. Signed certificates of accreditation will then be transferred to the district collectors for release to the customs brokers.

Guerrero said the move “is only part of the various information systems that the bureau has introduced in line with his ten-point priority program during his term.
