After taking control of CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM is going further down the supply chain with a collaboration with an online delivery service.
CMA CGM, the French container transportation and shipping company, is extending its vertical integration of the logistics supply chain with Wing, an online platform that links couriers to online retailers.
CMA CGM has taken an unspecified stake in the company through its investment fund. CEVA Logistics, which was acquired by the carrier this year, has entered a commercial partnership with Wing to implement cross-selling initiatives.
CEVA chief executive Nicolas Sartini said the move illustrated the synergies between CEVA and CMA CGM.
“This collaboration with Wing is fully in line with [CMA CGM chief executive] Rodolphe Saadé’s ambition in favour of digital innovation,” CEVA chief executive Nicolas Sartini said. “The group also confirms its willingness to offer its customers ever more innovative services throughout the logistics chain.”
Wing president Jean-Baptiste Maillant said having backing from CMA CGM was an “undeniable asset” in supporting the company’s growth.
“Their very strong development in logistics provides us with important synergies to offer a complete and innovative service to our respective customers,” he said.
Wing was founded in 2015 and has more than 300 customers.
